Senator Obama - Being President "is above my pay grade"

Bring on the debates!

If anyone was wondering why Barack Obama has declined to participate in a series of Town Hall meetings with John McCain, they need to look no further than the relative performances at this past weekends Saddleback Civil Forum.

Senator Obama when asked about abortion said that those theological and legal questions were above his pay grade. This from a man that was a lecturer on constitutional law at the University of Chicago. With all due respect to Senator Obama I would suggest that rather than being above his pay grade, having an opinion on the core issue behind (rightly or wrongly) 36 year old settled case law on abortion is minimum wage work for a US President.

If you can't express an opinion about an issue that has been studied and discussed for 50+ years, how are you going to make a decision about unforseen issues that will confront this country over the next 4 years...or 8 to 10 years as Senator Obama has suggested.

While the Main Stream Media has been playing out the narrative "Obama reaches out to evangelicals" the headline and lead story in every newspaper and broadcast media outlet should have been "Obama gets his ass kicked in quasi debate forum."

Granted the videos below are from MSNBC so they don't show the best of McCain and the worst of Obama but I include them for anyone (such as myself) who were not able to watch the event live.

MSNBC's Keith Obermann who "chastises" Senator McCain complains that "McCain was not in the 'cone of silence.' Note to Keith...Get Smart was a comedy show and not a documentary on the CIA. There isn't actually a 'Cone of Silence' and even if there was and McCain was supposed to be in it, that doesn't explain why MSNBC's chosen candidate, the man who makes Chris Matthew's pants tingle, can't answer simple questions much less complex ones.

Online Volunteer Program Begins!

Welcome to the Online Volunteer Program for McCain! If you've been waiting and wondering what you could do online for John McCain, your wait is over!

My name is Barbara Thomason, and I've accepted the position of National Volunteer Coordinator for Let's Get This Right. I'm excited to be given the opportunity of building the largest online support system for John McCain that the internet has ever had the pleasure of seeing!

I will need YOUR help! Our first project is giving birth to an online community called "McCain Country". McCain Country will reside on letsgetthisright.com, and will be an online "residential" community much like the old GeoCities and Yahoo/GeoCities communities.

Today, in particular, I'm looking for volunteers to become leaders in the McCain Country Featured Site Award Program. This program will target everyone with an online presence for McCain, whether it be a blogsite, website, myspace, etc. Anyone who supports or endorses McCain for President on their web home qualifies to become a resident of McCain Country, and apply for the coveted Featured Site Award. It will require at least an hour or two per day to fulfill a Leader position in this program of finding, critiquing, and selecting sites for the award, and participation or membership in groups such as Democrats for McCain, PUMA, Women for McCain, or even the NRA, is a definite plus.

If you're interested in applying as a Volunteer Leader, please copy and paste the questions below into an email, (don't forget to answer them *L*), and email them to me at barbarat54@bellsouth.net.This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it We'll have the LGTR email account working shortly, but in the meantime you may send your application to my personal email box.

The Volunteer Leader program will be organized, effective, and far reaching. We will build this program from the top, so get your application in early to become a key Liaison in the community.

Come on, now! Roll up your sleeves and let's get this right!

Barbara Thomason National Volunteer Coordinator

VOLUNTEER APPLICATION

1) Name, email address, snail mail address, phone number (optional)

2) URL to your website, blog, myspace, etc. If none, just say none, and go get one. =)

3) List any organizations that you belong to that you feel could be a useful tool to you as a McCain Country Volunteer Leader.

4) List any experience you may have that would give you an advantage as a Leader (i.e. forum manager, website builder, online group leader, graphic designer, etc.)

5) How many online hours per week you are willing to devote to being a Volunteer Leader for John McCain?

6) What time zone are you in, and what are your normal online hours?

7) List any suggestions or ideas for furthering the volunteer program that you may have.

Any other questions you have, whether it's about online volunteering or "boots on the ground" volunteering, leave a comment here. I'll get you an answer ASAP.

Obama. Proud of His Country?

Obama 'explains'

On Sat, 22 Mar 2008 18:48:04 -0400, 'LTG Bill Ginn' USAF ret. forwarded the following:

Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag pin, presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171,

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present, except those in uniform, are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart.

'As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides,' Obama said. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be 'swapped' for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing." If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.'
"I don't want to be perceived as taking sides?" I am sorry but I thought the role of the President of the United States was to promote America's interests. The words "I solemnly swear to protect and defend the constitution from enemies, both foreign and domestic" seem to ring a bell. I for one want a President who takes sides...OURS!

"A war-like message"? Perhaps Senator NoBama forgets that the anthem was written when were at war, a war for our independence from a tyrannical King. (Much like the government that would ensue with the Nobama, Reid, Pelosi triumvirate.)

"[T]hen I might salute it"? Like his wife Michelle, I wonder what Senator NoBama wants to "change" about this country so he can finally be proud enough of it to salute the flag or place his hand over his heart when the National Anthem is played?

I guess when you are a "citizen of the world" it is tough to proud of one puny, backwards country like the United States of America.

From Moron.org

I am including this video from Moron.org that suggests that developing our own energy resources is a "gimmick".

Perhaps this Moron hasn't realized that since President Bush rescinded the moratorium against off shore drilling, oil has dropped $20 a barrel.

Perhaps this moron doesn't realize that capital and commodity markets are rather good at calculating the present value of future supply.

Perhaps this moron doesn't realize that one of the ways we can reduce the price of oil is by strengthening the value of the dollar.

Perhaps this Moron hasn't realized that a majority of Americans want to Drill Here and Drill Now.

Perhaps Moron.org doesn't realize that Nancy Pelouzy as a representative of the American People should get her fat ass back to Washington DC and hold a vote on off shore drilling.

And just to be bipartisan...John McCain should give up his opposition to drilling int he mosquito infested patch of dirt that would be affected by drilling in ANWR.

DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW, PAY LESS!

Conservatives Need Your Help

Dear Friends:

Each day Let's Get This Right continues to advance the conservative cause. Through our programs and networks we have seen many things begin to form. ACTION is taking place.

Let me share with you one example. We found via reports from folks around the country that many areas were severely lacking in signs and material to support the McCain campaign. Andrea Snell, Jean Avery and many others stepped up to help out. What began as a drive to obtain funds etc turned into an all out distribution event. Now folks simply make the request and we send them the signs...without pre-condition. We have 'sign moms' around the country in charge of distribution etc. It was a great thing to see happen. At last glance we had distributed roughly 1100 signs in a months time!

Fortunately, we were there in time to help these folks before they became discouraged.

Let's Get This Right continues to work to help make a difference in the lives of people, in campaigns and in our networks. Each and every person involved in conservative issues or groups has reason to hope because great advances are being made in networking like-minded folks together into powerful platforms for action.

However, continued outreach/work is essential to help further our goals and values.

Today, you can make an immediate difference in the conservative cause and our many combined efforts. Each $1.00 you send provides us the ability to keep doing these great things and also build our network. Right now we really need your help.

We have three reporters/bloggers and fantastic activists that are credentialed for the convention however, they do not have the funds to make the trip. The economy and cost of travel is taking a toll on us all. If you can please make a contribution of ANY amount to this fund it will be greatly appreciated. You will have made a huge difference in our ability to pull off this unprecedented coverage of the convention and hold the main stream media accountable in LIVE TIME.

I hope we can count on you to help. Please send the most generous gift you can, as soon as possible, we do not have much time!

With grateful appreciation,

Sheridan Folger

Executive Director

Let's Get This Right

P.S. So that we are able to take advantage of the gift as soon as possible, please send your gift via the link provided HERE so that it can have maximum impact. Thank you in advance for you kind support!

McCain Victory 08 Headlines

About Us

The McCain On-Line Strategy Memo and On-Line Chair website was created by three bloggers who support John McCain for President. Over the past nine months, we each have created a number of sites, groups, and blogs on the Internet to show our support for Senator McCain – but also to organize other supporters who spend time online. We decided that a good way to do this was to create a site that would hopefully act as a central reference point and clearinghouse for volunteer on-line efforts on behalf of John McCain

While we have varying degrees of experience with political campaigns and communications, we are by no means “qualified experts.” In fact, we believe this is the basis of why our insight holds value: We are campaign outsiders. Our experience is in seeing how the campaign interacts with supporters and undecided voters online.
